Summary This film deals with the Algerian War, from All Saints' Day in 1954 to the referendum on Algerian self-determination in January 1961. It focuses on the role of General De Gaulle in this conflict, recalled to power to resolve the situation from 1959 onwards. The film's various sequences include armed battles between the FLN and the French army, anti-independence demonstrations such as the Pustch d'Alger and the Semaine des barricades, De Gaulle's inauguration as President of the Republic and several speeches, demonstrations for independence in Algiers and footage of the referendum vote.
